Vineyard Notes
The 2013 growing season proved to be an excellent year in Napa Valley. It was slightly warmer than 2012, resulting in an overall earlier growing season. Lower than normal rainfall paired with moderate spring weather brought early bud break and bloom. Sunny skies throughout the summer months led to early veraison and harvest. Warm daytime temperatures followed by cool nights prior to harvest produced evenly ripened fruit with ideal hang time.
Production Notes
The key to the unbelievably rich texture of this wine is 32 months of aging. During this time, the lees (the grapes’ natural yeast) richen the wine’s body, resulting in a custard-like creaminess.
Tasting Notes
Golden in color, this Chardonnay is uniquely aged for an extended period in French oak prior to bottling. Aromas of guava, brioche, white peach and toasted hazelnut jump from the glass. A great balance of acidity and silkiness supports additional tropical fruit flavors and a long finish with notes of apricot and caramel.
Food Pairing Notes
The creamy body of this Chardonnay pairs beautifully with scallops, lobster, or a perfectly roasted chicken. Embrace the spring flavors with a fresh pea risotto or shrimp with salsa verde.
